Top 5 fashion tips I wish I knew earlier as a teenager

Top 5 fashion tips I wish I knew earlier as a teenager

Looking back at my teenage years, going through my old pictures I feel cringe, but I am pretty sure I am not the only one who feels so, who haven't made fashion mistakes during their teenage? Those raw hem shirts, polyester t-shirts, neon colors were a rage during that time and I blindly followed those trends regardless how they looked on me. What was I thinking? Didn't I see how ugly it was? Why was I wearing something I wasn't comfortable in? I ask myself now. Now don't get me wrong I loved my teenage years, while I do miss those worry-free years of my life I also have some fashion advises I wish I could convey to my younger self. So if you're in your teenage take a note of these tips so you don't feel cringe going through your old pictures during your mid 20s. So let's drive in.

Stop blindly following trends: Now I've already talked a lot about this in my previous articles as well because following trend is futile, trends come and go, so ask yourself a few questions before you get yourself something that's trendy, Is it really worth your money? Are you not gonna get tired of it once the trend is over? Will that particular item look good on your body  type?  Only then consider buying it. Don't buy it simply because everyone else is, remember every body-type and every individual's personality is different, and don't we all wanna look different and unique? So why wear something that everyone else is?

Stop spending all your money on clothes: Now this is something I am guilty of doing during my teenage years, I remember never having enough money to have fun or eat out with my friends because I spent all of it in buying clothes, recklessly spending money in buying new clothes won't make you stylish, buying the right ones for you will, the mantra here is "quality over quantity". Figure out your personal style and only invest in basics and types of clothes you really enjoy wearing, you can also refer to this article if you still haven't figured out what your personal style is this may help you in figuring out your personal style.

Spend on good quality shoes: Spending on good quality shoes is an investment. I still have a pair of shoe I bought in 2019, they are not only durable but a good quality shoe can really elevate your look and make you look extremely attractive, they say your shoes are the first thing people notice subconsciously when they first see you, and I strongly agree, thus I would highly recommend you getting your hands on a good quality shoes as per your choice and personality type.

Invest on basic staples: You may find basic boring during your teenage but trust me you can create endless number of outfits using basic staples, you will spend a lot less time putting these things together by layering and accessorizing, and also spend a lot less money. A basic pair of blue jeans, slacks, tank-tops, t-shirt, sweatshirts. track pants and a classic white shirt, these are a few essentials that you should have in your closet, because they go with everything, thus spending in basics will leave you with numerous outfits to create.

Be confident and love your body: I know it's not very easy to accept your flaws and overcome your complexes, but crying, complaining and trying to hide your flows and insecurities won't solve the matter, it will only make you look underconfident and not happy about your body which is unattractive. So if you wanna look confident and beautiful the first thing that you need to do is to accept your flaws and fall in love with your body, now this won't happen overnight, but you can always fake it till you make it, now pretending doesn't mean, "oh! I love my body" in public and hating it when no one's around. You will actually need to accept your body and fall  in love with it, this won't make your complexes disappear, but you'll no longer try to hide your insecurities, you'll embrace them instead.

How I wish I had known these earlier! I could've saved myself so much time and money and also the embarrassment of course, but it's okay its better late than never, and if you're a teenager, I hope this helps. Thankyou for reading. See you in the next one.
